Stewart Little

Chihuahua - Adult - Male
Adoptable Small Spayed/NeuteredUp-to-date with routine shotshousetrained

This is Stewart Little – and no, he’s not a mouse as you can see! He was about the size of Stewart Little though when he was born!

Stewart is a VERY sweet boy who is looking for his special forever home. His personality and disposition is simply amazing and he is always happy!

He is 18 months old, crate trained, house trained, and did we mention SWEET as can be?!?? Stewart is super-friendly and never meets a stranger. He loves everyone and everything – kids, adults, other dogs, cats – you name it, he loves it!

Stewart was born with Megaesophagus – meaning that the esophagus is abnormally enlarged. This means that the muscles of the esophagus to fail to properly propel food and liquid from the mouth into the stomach (that is, a failure of peristalsis). Food can become lodged in the flaccid esophagus, where it may decay, be regurgitated, or may be inhaled into the lungs (leading to aspiration pneumonia). Stewart has had several surgeries performed to correct as much as possible. He previously needed to be fed through a feeding tube and now sits up in a built-for-him Bailey chair. He is fed a meatball recipe 3 times per day with 30 minutes spent upright afterwards.

We are certainly willing to accommodate a foster-to-adopt situation for whomever is interested in adopting him to give time to learn the feeding regimen and how to use the special chair. Stewart has it down pat and seems to know that it’s the best way to manage his issue!

Stewart is heartworm negative, has been neutered, and is up to date with all vaccinations. His adoption fee is $250.
